Happy Holidays Everyone! Disneyland is celebrating their Festival of Holidays inside California Adventure, and for us, that means lots of tasty foods to try out! We went on Nov 11th, the 2nd official day of the festival, that runs until Jan 7th.
They can make a Mickey head out of just about anything.
The foods this year range in price from ~$4.25 to $7.75. Knowing they've offered Sip and Savor Passes before, we quickly sought out the booth selling them. Why put it in the back, knowing I'll have to walk past all the food booths?
The pass costs $45 and you get 8 coupons redeemable for 1 food menu item. That makes each coupon worth $5.63. Foods that cost more than $5.63, we'll use a coupon on. Items that are less get paid for with cash.
In years past, they have somehow run out of these cards. Knowing how often we'll be back, and knowing that we've got out-of-town guests coming over the holidays, we picked up a few cards for later.
Being only the 2nd day of the festival, and the first weekend day, the lines to get food were fairly long. Luckily for us, we had a few adults so we could divide and conquer. We all headed to different booths to grab food and then met back up to sample it.
T, Jacob, and I had been trading some texts during the week on all the things we wanted to try.
At the Classic Crocks & Casseroles booth, the Chana Masala with Grilled Garlic Naan for $6.50 (is it really a classic recipe?) was our first sample. All of us love Indian food, so this was a big hit for us. Definitely something we'd order again.
The Holiday Duets booth had quite a few items we wanted to try.
Sadly the Macaroni and Cheese with Cornbread Crumbles for $7.25 was a bit bland. Jacob commented that the pasta was undercooked as well. Maybe if it had been sitting a little longer. Disappointing.
The Cookie Butter and Jelly Cheesecakes for $4.50 were good though.
They tasted like the delicious Trader Joe's Speculoos cookie butter (gingerbread type of flavor) along with a sweet jelly. Can't go wrong with that. The kids just wanted to eat the green leaves.
Next were the Holiday Mickey and Minnie Cookies for $7.00. Overpriced? Definitely. But they're in the shapes of Mickey and Minnie and they're decorated for the holidays, so that kind of thing is overlooked.
In the bite I was able to snag from the kids, it was a tasty sugar cookie.
At Blissfully Braised, the Braised Pork Belly Adobo with Garlic Fried Rice for $7.50 was tasty, but I don't think I need to get it again.
At Joy to the Sauce, some members of the group decided to waste tickets on a fish dish. Bleh.
The Seared Salmon Filet with Lemon Caper Sauce for $7.50 was enjoyed by some nevertheless.
Beef. That's more like it. Beef Short Rib with Smashed Potatoes and Gravy for $7.75. I was happy to see that the portion size of meat was pretty good this year. Probably because they're not specifying it's Wagyu beef anymore.
At Chips, Breads, & Holiday Spreads, it's hard to go wrong with Chorizo Queso Fundido with House-made Tortilla Chips for $6.00. What's not tasty about chips and cheese.
Not pictured before it was devoured is the Warm Bavarian Pretzel with Whole-Grained Dijon Mustard for $5.00.
