Celebrating Donald at Disneyland

Even though the rest of Disneyland is celebrating Pixar Fest, today we're coming to the resort and celebrating Donald Duck! Our hats today are from: Disneyland Paris, Disneyland, Walt Disney World circa 1988 (my first visit), Walt Disney World, and Tokyo Disneyland. By random luck, when we arrived at the resort, we were parked on the Donald level! Now that's good fortune. Opposite from our normal routine, today we're starting our day in Disneyland. Ian has wanted to go on a few rides here, but by the time we get there later in the day, the lines are always too long. As a special treat, we rode the Monorail into Tomorrowland. Thankfully we were at the park just after opening, and all the lines are short. Ian has wanted to ride "the spinning rocket ships" every time we walk by them. Today is the day! I love the views of the park from here. Especially the castle. Ian and Jacob flying high. Whenever we mention our trip to Walt Disney World, Ian reminds us of "tha

Hawaii 2018 - Day 7 and 8

Because of the great time we had snorkeling at Makena Beach yesterday, we were able to convince the rest of the family to head out there with us today. On the lookout for turtles. And again it didn't take long until we found one. Also in the shallows. Eating some of this greenery for breakfast.  All these fish were attacking the turtle! Or they're cleaning his shell. It was a whole turtle city down there. Really fun to see. Enjoy it? Yep! This little guy was almost stepped on. I moved him over to the greenery and out of the way. While we've been snorkeling, the kids have been enjoying the pools. And eating tasty snacks. Another one of the interesting animals Ian and I found. A giant slug! Ian and I watched it crawling around for a little bit. Then decided to share our find with the others... After all that practicing on the driving range, Austin really wanted to get out and play a round. It been forever since I played, but after some decent practice on the range, I was up f

Hawaii 2018 - Day 6

Day 6 and we're changing it up a little bit. The girls really wanted to hit a flea market while they were on the island. The kids were happy to go along for the snacks. Shaved ice, of course. And of course there's kettle corn. This girl would eat shaved ice every day if she could. As a special treat, Theresa even brought something tasty back for me. A pie from McDonalds. And not just any pie. First of all, it's fried instead of baked, ramping up the tasty factor by 10x. And the flavor? A local specialty, Taro! Yum! Love those unique flavors. While everyone else was off at the flea market, Donald, Austin, and I still wanted to get some snorkeling in. We had decent snorkeling just outside the hotel, but just a few minutes drive south, it was supposed to be even better. The three of us piled into the car and headed over to Makena Beach. As soon as we got into the water we knew this was going to be good. In the shallows there was a turtle, just below the surface. The coral and
