In making a list of all the things we wanted to do while we were in Hawaii, eating lots of food was high on the list. The Eat the Street festival at Kaka'ako Park, featuring 40 different food vendors was a must do!
There were so many places you weren't allowed to park nearby. Eventually we found a couple metered spaced a few blocks away.
Surrounding the park along the street were a dozen food trucks, plus a lot more other booths in the grass.
With a huge group like this, we're going to be able to get a lot of different things and split them.
I was hoping to find some really good Kalua pork. What better place to have it at than the winner of Food Network's Great Food Truck Race season 4, Aloha Plate.
Ian - Do you have any pineapples?
I do have to say, the pork was some of the best I've tasted.
Not just specialty foods here either. Abby enjoyed her tasty tea from Taste Tea.
The group at the Mega-Load Burgers truck really know presentation. The triple stacked burger drew me and Donald in. I was having a hard time deciding what to get. Donald and I decided to split something and I gave him the choice, as long as it wasn't seafood.
Donald went with something they didn't even have a display of. The Loaded Pork fries. Once it came out, I was a bit hesitant at first. Take a look at the ingredients. Fresh cut fries, marinated pork, a fried egg, avocado, tomato, onion, pineapple, sour cream, jalapeños, shredded cheese, lettuce, garlic aioli. They certainly weren't kidding that it was loaded.
Tasting it though. Incredible. There's so many flavors here and they were all delicious. Even with all the other foods I tried today, Tyler and I ordered a 2nd one. It was that good.

Mmm. Warm brazilian cheese bread.
Everyone was enjoying all the different foods.
From Da Ultimate Grindz Hawaii, Alli was enjoying the meat lumpia, similar to an egg roll.
From Beyond Burgers Hawaii, I enjoyed their specialty burger with grass fed beef, blue cheese, baby arugula, garlic aioli, and (the reason I got it) a caramelized onion & crumbled bacon in a balsamic reduction sauce.
It was really tasty, but after you split it 6 ways, there's not a lot left.
Time for dessert! Theresa had read about Pop Pop donuts, featuring mini donuts made right in front of you.
There were a variety of toppings available. T went for half strawberry glaze and half coconut glaze. Both were good, but the best was mixing the two together.
Giant funnel cake topped with cinnamon and sugar? Check. Yummy. Just like a churro.
Cereal milkshakes! When I saw this booth and knew I had to try something. Captain Crunch, Reeses Puffs, Coco Puffs, Fruity Pebbles, or Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I do have a couple favorites there, but in the end I went with Captain Crunch Berries.
I enjoyed it, and so did Alli. You really do taste the corn from the cereal a lot more this way. Not usually something you'd associate with a milk shake.
After seeing mine, Austin wanted his own. This time a Reeses Puffs shake. That would have been my second choice.
After over an hour here trying all sorts of delicious things, we're finally done. I don't think there's anything I had here that I didn't like.
Along with the food, there was also music playing in the background. Some was the traditional hawaiian music, but the kids liked the faster music with a beat. I saw more than one person pulling out their phone to take a video of them enjoying the tunes.
